question about prereqs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I had a question about prereqs that I hope you can answer. Is the average required for prereqs 70% or 78%?? Also, is there a minimum percentage that you must have in a prereq course eg. 60% or is it just the total average that matters?? Thanks in advance!!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i beleieve if you are oop you will need a 26N MCAT no matter when you started university. In other words, doesn't matter if you did or didn't do the pre reqs.

Although you still likely need close to 90% ave to get an interview

I didn't mention that I am oop, so does that mean that I must pass the MCAT portion as well as have a 70% avg (with no course under 60)? I'm only worried because I am afraid I wont be eligible because of a 54 I got in one of my prereqs. Oh and I started undergrad in 2005 so I dont think the new rules apply to me. Thanks.

Also, I just looked on the website and it doesn't mention anything about having courses under 60%(only says that under the new rules)... it just says that you must have an average of 70%. I hope that means I'm okay?? Lol sorry for all the questions!!

Hey md16,

I believe as it is written that if you are OOP, you ONLY need to meet the 26N requirement.

(the 3 yrs where you can use old prereq/mcat requirement is only for Saskatchewan residents applicants, and doesn't apply to OOP)

So my understanding is all you need is 26N mcat and high average for your best 2 years 87%+ (more likely 90%+)

here's a little note about the academicrequirements

3. Average for Admission. To establish an academic average for consideration by the Admissions Committee, students must complete two full undergraduate years of study. A full course load is defined as thirty credit units taken between September and April at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina (see website for “Examples of Full Course Loads at Other Universities”). Saskatchewan residents must attain a minimum of 78% in the two-year average to be considered for admission, and out-of-province residents minimum of 80%. In recent years, the cutoff for out-of-province students offered interview has been 88-90%. Courses taken during summer (May to August) are not considered in the two-year average.
