McGill and UBC

Recommended Posts

Is it worth applying to UBC dentistry or McGill as an out-of-province student?

Do they even take any OOP students? Would a 3.85/4 and 22AA, 21RC, 24 carving, and 22PA be competitive or would I be wasting my money?

Thanks

wasting your money, don't even waste your time emailing them.

definitely don't apply.

You should definitely apply to UBC, but according to their website, UBC does give preference to BC residents, with a max of 10% being OOP. (http://www.dentistry.ubc.ca/academic_programs/dmd/admission_procedures.asp)

Check the UBC Faculty of Dentistry Admission Stats. (http://www.dentistry.ubc.ca/academic_programs/dmd/entrance_statistics/2007.asp)

You're above average in all categories, so take the shot-- so long as you don't mind the fees (like Peristalsis said).

As for McGill, I'd apply there too, even as OOP. Your numbers are strong and I know people who interviewed with less impressive numbers than yours. And if you get accepted, you'll be paying peanuts, so worth a shot.
