DAT Mark for U of A

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the weighting of the separate DAT sections that U of A uses?

I know that they only look at RC, PAT, and carving, and several people have told me that they weight the carving section the most, so just wondering if anyone knows the exact numbers?

Is it like 50% carving, 25% PAT, 25% RC?

Thanks for the help

From website: "Dental Aptitude Test results (30% of overall rank score) is the sum of grades in the reading comprehension, perceptual ability and manual dexterity components."

I've never heard that any sections are weighted more than others. It looks like they just add up your scores for the 3 sections.. hmmmm

It might be worth a call

They are weighted evenly.

The carving story is just a myth I think. I have heard this as long as I've been in undergrad but I'm not sure if there is any truth to it. I think the fact that it is possible to score very high on the carving section (whereas it is more difficult on the other sections like reading the PAT to score high) makes it seem like they give it more significance. But in reality a high carving mark just boosts your overall DAT mark significantly since it is possible to score >25.

Don't really know though. Just thinking aloud really.
