Nothing in the mail yet for me!

I made the *registered* cheque out to the 'University of Western Ontario', and I called them for the address..

They said to send it to the care of:

Admissions and Student Affairs

Kresge building

Room K1

Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry

University of Western Ontario

London, ON

N61 5C1

Hope that helps! :)

Excuse my ignorance...but how r those 2 different? I have check ordered from my bank=personal check?

I believe it has to be certified to be good by a bank basically - there is no way a certified cheque can bounce as the bank as already removed the money from your account. Usually costs a few dollars to do that and you have to go to the bank to set it up etc.

It is not the same as just writing a regular cheque from your chequing account.

so when we get to the bank we just ask for a registered cheque, then they take the money out of our account immediately and print out the thing?

this is a prime example of a science student confused about the workings of the real world...lol...

I'm a little unclear about something.

I've provisionally accepted Western and indicated that I still want to be considered by Queens. Is the cheque at Western due within one week of May 29 or June 13?

Anyone know???? Because the deposit is non-refundable, correct?

that is right, I have had to do that a few times for formal legal purposes.

I just sent them a regular cheque. Oh ****...

I don't really understand this registered cheque business. How can you write a cheque for the amount you want if it is pre printed with a certain value? I'm so confused.

it says:

"certified cheque or money order payable to UWO"

What?! I already sent them a regular cheque, what am I gonna do now?

Thats why we were making a big deal about the type - easy mistake to make :)

I would call them up, and you will probably have to cancel the cheque and issue a proper certified one. You have a week after the deadline (29?) at the latest so you still have tons of time.

You can't, you have to go to the bank, get them to certify it (certification just means a 3rd party, here your bank, has guaranteed the funds). Your bank will immediately remove the 1000 and give you the cheque. Money orders are basically the same thing.

This would be soooo much easier if they let you do this online.
