In-Dent
Hi all, I am a second year (just finished first year) UWO biological and medical sciences student. After not getting acceptance into my intended module I was switched into a Major in Biology. My questions is are there any consequences to staying a major in biology, and not competing for a spot in the honors module? Will it affect me getting into/competing for med school spots? P.S. I realize I will end up with a BSc instead of a BSMc. I know this will not have any effect. But will major vs. honors? Thanks for your help
foregoneconclusion
Yes it will. You either need to apply for an Honors in Bio/Enter into a double-major Honors program (which is easier to get into than a regular Honors program).
In-Dent
Thanks for the reply. I'll probably persue the double major honors program as you mentioned. Not sure if you would happen to know this, but when looking at the HONORS double major program should i be looking at the minimum req's for the honors or the double major. (I don't see minimum req's for a honors double major program listed anywhere)
foregoneconclusion
It is my understanding that a four year double major is an honors program but to be clear, you should ask the academic counsellors. Don't leave it to chance, I know some people who had to miss graduation because they found out that a credit could not be double-counted, etc.
