cnb88
Nope. It doesn't matter what faculty you are in as long as you have the prereqs. Officially anyways. I have heard that if you are an Arts major (or minor) they look at your marks with more of a fine-toothed comb than they do with the other faculties because Arts is "easier". Whether that's true or not I have no idea. But no, there isn't a "100 seats for Science, 20 for Engineering, 10 for AgFor, 15 for Ed, and 5 for Arts Grads" kinda thing. Just make sure you have decent marks and all the prereqs and that should be fine for the academic part of it.

cnb88
It's one of the "myths" (or whatever you call it) here... perpetuated by some advisor people-according to a friend of a friend. Like I said, I don't know if that's true or not. If it is, it seems a little ridiculous to me, because some Arts courses are harder than some Science courses. And it shouldn't matter what you took as long as you have the prereqs and decent grades.
medguy5367
Actually, I have heard this as well... They look at your GPA, but also keep your faculty in mind. I have heard this from about a dozen different people, including people who got into med, but I have never seen this claimed by any official source. Wut?
False. Admissions has always stated that they do not take into account the institution or the program in which the grades have been achieved as long as the appropriate requirements are met. Whether that's true or not I have no idea. Obviously, I am just one person, but I got in right on May 15th with an Arts degree and either a 3.69 or 3.71 cumulative (don't recall the exact # now). My pre-req GPA wasn't that high, either, something like 3.78, I think. So based on my own experience, I don't think it's the case at all.
ED527
The subjectivity you mention most likely plays a role when you apply to UofC where your GPA is given a score out of 50. The admissions office at UofA don't think they particularly care what program you completed. The bottom line is, you are offered an interview if you are in the top ~480 people after your file has been evaluated using the formula posted on the website.
