How many Canadian med. students end up in U.S.

Recommended Posts

I was curious as to how many Canadian medical students end up south of the border.

A = number of Canadians who applied to US

B = " " " " were not accepted by US schools

C = number of Canadians who also applied to Canadian schools and were accepted

D = your answer

D = A - B - C

I think he meant students in Canadian medical schools, not Canadian students in American medical schools.

So, my formula won't help then.:( and I was just trying to be helpful.:P

Is the answer then:

A = no. of Canadian citizens who graduated from Canadian medical schools

B = no. of graduates who died before going south

C = no. of Canadian medical graduates who went south

D = no. of Canadian medical graduates who returned north

E = no. of Canadian medical graduates who remained in US

E = C - D? If so, perhaps, this is more helpful.:P Math and stats are not my best subjects.

Bad math...

Lets say 100 Canadians applied to the US (A = 100).

Of which all 100 were accepted (B = 100)

And then number of Canadians who applied to Canadian schools and were accepted was just 1 (C = 1)

D = A - B - C

D = 100 - 100 - 1

D = -1

Therefore according to you, we have 1 American student that applied and got into our Canadian med school. >_>

I think the original question could be rephrased to "how many Canadian MDs end up in the states for residency?"
