beebee
Hey all! Does applying a few times help with the application process in some way? Possibly show the determination of some sort??? I will be applying for next year, but I am certain that I will not get in from the first try (not really rural and gpa is not the highest (~80), but in masters so that should help once I am done with it). Anyways, what are your thoughts? BeeBee

BeeBee The adcom will admit that applying from year to year has no bearing on your application score - ie. - someone who has applied 7 times and has been rejected 7 times has the same opportunity as someone who is applying for the first time. Applying more than once will allow you to gain experience with the application and hopefully the interview process too, should you get an invite, which will certainly help you in the long run with improving your app. My advice would be to apply this year... you never know what will happen. Masters will definitely help, but it only gives you a 0.2 booster. If you're average with ugrad is in the 80's.. you should figure out exactly what your overall gpa is. Averages mean nothing... someone with an 80 average can have a piss-poor gpa while someone else can have a bang on 3.7. If your gpa is lower than 3.6, a masters may not help you enough.. esp. considering you're not from Northern Ontario. Based on the stats of other non-Northerners who get in, you really need close to a 3.9-4.0 gpa and an excellent interview to get in. You may want to consider a second ugrad to boost your overall gpa. But if your gpa is 3.6 or higher, a masters might be the ticket...
