Just wondering how this works,

so ill be entering my third year at uni this Sept and next september Im going to apply to med school. What happens to your 4th year marks, since obviously I wont have completed them, but Ill be hoping to use that year to boost my overall GPA and use it as one of my best two years for some schools

it wont help boost your gpa for your application.

schools will look at your 4th year marks if you've been accepted to see that you've successfully completed your degree.

I was under the impression, it could count for UWO??

But how can it? You submit your transcripts in with the OMSAS application in October. Your 4th year has just started. Interviews are scheduled in the spring, and you arent asked for a transcript again until you're accepted.

If you apply to UWO with only one year above the cutoff, then your acceptance is conditional upon your 4th year marks being above the cutoff as well (thus giving you 2 years above the cutoff as required). However, your 4th year marks are not considered in OFFERING you admission - they are important for keeping your acceptance offer.

Would that mean that you would have to have some superb MCAT and ECs to be offered the conditional acceptance with only one year above the cutoff?

Naturally they are a little vague on some the details :) - I believe the generally understandings that for all applicants they use the GPA solely from your best year in their formula (although you MUST have two able cut off). In this manner conditional people are not at any real disadvantage.
