fluorescein
This semester has been unexpectedly busy and I didn't get to study for the MCAT as much as I had hoped. I have 3 weeks after the end of the semester to study. My questions: Should I write the MCAT knowing that I'm probably not going to do overly well, or should I cancel and write it next September when I'll have more time to prepare? Will a poor MCAT score hurt my chances of getting accepted if I re-write and improve? Thanks!
future_doc
I don't think it would hurt you to write it in 3 weeks just for practice, but personally I would cancel. A poor score means notihng if you improve next time round. I write in 10 days, if poor score, I will rewrite.
astudentis
Speaking of MUN, when they consider the MCAT... they look for improvement for multiple mcats... if you do bad this time around and really well next time... it will look good I was in your situation not too long ago, but I wrote it anyways

Cnussey
And if you're a non-trad NL resident, the MCAT won't count as much as some of your other application sections.
NLengr
If you feel a little unprepared, I go ahead and write it. But if you feel like you have no idea what you are doing, don't write it. Only write it if you feel you have a chance of doing decently. Don't just write it so that you can establish an upward trend. Although an upward trend is better than multiple crappy MCAT's it's still not as good as showing up with a solid score the first time.
