Last year before my Toronto spot openned up I was able to get a spot in detroit. Ok, not the best but in a pinch it would have worked out - I had planned to stay over night (100 dollars for hotel). I changed mine a few days ago, spent 3 days looking looking, nothing, so booked in NYC, then checked back an hour later and one came up in toronto......people do cancel, but book a back-up then check as often as you can...
