Gunner10
Hey all, I graduated with a partial IB certificate and actually used my advanced credit in university. I was wondering if anyone here had to submit their IB transcripts for the UBC app and how long it took for the whole process? The IB website says 10-14 business days to process your transcript request, but that it may be longer during peak periods (which is now), and that sounds like I'm cutting it close. I don't want to do the expedited shipping because it's ridiculously expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Vancouverite1987
Yup, you need to send them.
Gunner10
I'm aware they need to be sent but am less sure about the timeline - does it actually take 10-14 business days to get there? Or longer? I'd like to avoid expedited shipping if possible...
terryann
I spoke with them, and they verified the time period...I paid the $55 Cdn to have them sent.

guitarded27
You only need to send those transcripts if you are NOT a UBC student. "UBC students who have been granted IB or AP transfer credit in the above subject areas are not required to submit official IB or AP transcripts." http://www.med.ubc.ca/education/md_ugrad/MD_Undergraduate_Admissions/Admission_Requirements.htm#Claiming%20AP%20or%20IB%20Credit
djmackj
I was in the same situation last year. I didn't realize I had to submit a physical IB transcript until around this time last year and figured it would be too late to attempt such transfer. It takes 2 days for your cheque to arrive at IB by Xpresspost, about a day or two for them to confirm receipt before processing them, which would be another 10-12 business days. And by the time they mail it to UBC, the deadline for application would've passed. I ended up just re-taking one of my intro chem courses, it was a piece of cake since I knew everything already. Gunner10
I actually emailed in to ask how long it is taking them to process requests right now and they actually said 7-10 days.
Gitanjali
Hey, So I realized that this was an issue just today:eek: I only used IB credits for 1 course and ended up doing the other courses at uni even though I had trnsfer credits..I personally think u shouldnt accept these advanced placement credits..theyre such a hassle later on.. anyways for now, I do have 1 official IB transcript original that I got when I graduayed. Can I just send that in from my side or does the trasnscript have to be sent by the IBO ppl? if the latter is true then Im royally srewed coz I prolly cant apply to UBC this year then.... Anyone know??? You prob have a problem b/c of usual required protocol of med schools requiring transcripts always directly from source, but why not call them and see what may be done.
