Corsci
So i wrote the MCAT on july 30th, was pretty confident and well prepared. The test was going well enough until the fire alarm went off during WS and i lost 2 mins from my essay, no biggie. Then in BS with 20 mins left the alarm went off again for 10 mins. We were forced to continue writing... although i pooped this 10 mins out the window cause i could not focus at all and then ran out of time. So i dont know how bad i messed it up. AAMC will give me a letter that I can send to the schools saying what happened... will be useless i presume. Anyone had one of these or heard of them? Now my dilema is whether to resched a new exam. Does U of C (and U of A) take your best score or most recent (couldnt find it on the site)? My scores come out sept 1st and i return from a trip on aug 30th so i would have minimal time to re-study, but would be willing to sacrifice the fee. Coles notes: Anyone had an incident letter sent to a school regarding your mcat score? And do u of c/u of a take your most recent or best?
sparkles3288
I dont know about the incident letter, but both UofC and UofA take your best mcat score. That sucks about that happening. Stuff like that really just messes more with your mindset than anything =(.
Corsci
yeah... it was like trying to read a research paper while your alarm clock buzzer is blaring full blast.
Rayven
Well.. no med school will give you bonus points since that'd be way too arbitrary. The most "fair" thing would be for AAMC to give you a free re-write really soon after that screw up but that's not going to happen. So instead you get a useless letter. I absolutely agree - and they should void your score before the scroe comes out if that is what you want, i.e., as if you never wrote it. But you would need to act quickly. Alternatively, in the off chance that you did better than you expect, you should be able to keep the score. Its bloody awful and they should not be allowed to get away with the situation. Cnussey
Oi. That exam is difficult/stressful enough without alarms going off. I thought it was annoying that other people were coming and going to the washroom. Those ear-muffs don't help either...they really hurt my head. skp1187
Hey I am in the same situation as you and applying to the same schools. I'm re-writing it since there is nothing to lose right. Whichever one I do better will be the score i send in. STUPID AAMC

STUPID AAMC Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to submit all scores--when you release scores through AAMC, all exams are released. Vidhya
It really stinks that AAMC won't at the very least give you a free re-write or refund for your exam. I had something similar happen to me last year. I was writing my MCAT in a hotel conference room and there was a wedding preparation occuring next door. Suddenly the live band decided to practice in the middle of the biological sciences section and it took almost 20 minutes for the invigilator to get them to stop. They were so loud they might as well have been in the same room as us. Needless to say that section was a total write off. I should have voided my exam but I have this irresistable urge to see my score. I made a note of it in the feedback survey but I never heard from AAMC, so I didn't even get the crappy letter offer. At least the Alberta universities use your best set of scores, so multiple attempts won't hurt you here.
Corsci
So i got a test date on sept 10th... I won't know my score until sept 1st from the first one, any opinions of where I should draw the line as to whether or not i rewrite (keeping most recent MCAT ontario schools in mind)? like 34 Q... higher/lower?
