Satsuma
If you do not meet the GPA cut-off, you will not have your application progress to the next steps.

Hi Nightsky Im not to sure which pool you are referring to but here are the approx cut offs that were floating around this year. OOP 3.88 (But Dr. Hebert always, at least for the past 5 years, cautions ppl that its more like a 3.89) IP 3.85 Ottawa region 3.70 anything below is not looked at like Satsuma said; however, they might change on a yearly basis....for ex, two years ago Ottawa region was 3.65 hope that helps! Prothrombin
any chance to get thru with a 3.71 from toronto? Doubtful, but you can apply if you want. If you lived in Ottawa you'd have a good shot.

hkmedic
So Ottawa does have "quotas" for each of their groups? What is the OOP quota?
thatonekid
So Ottawa does have "quotas" for each of their groups? What is the OOP quota? I don't believe that UofO has a quota for OOP. I think they just have them for CF, CNFS and aboriginals. All you need to be considered for OOP is a 3.87 wGPA, and then they look at your autobio sketch.

Where are you from? Ottawa LHIN network? In province, but not ottawa? OOP? This is the most important factor in making the decision.

thatonekid
i am from ontario but not in ottawa area (from hamilton)Well then, if you want an honest answer, I'm going to say no. Last year the Ontario but out of ottawa cutoff was 3.85 cGPA, which you currently don't meet. Of course, you can always apply on the off chance that the cutoff decreases, but from Dr. Hébert (from UofO) was saying, it's going to be the same this year. You're only in your 3rd year, so I wouldn't worry about applying this year. Work hard on getting excellent marks this year and try in your 4th year. It's more difficult for 3rd years to get into med than 4th years anyways (general consensus). Of course, this is all just my honest opinion and other people may feel differently. It's up to you to make the final decision.
