ubc_earnestw
Hi everyone! I'm having some problems submitting my essay. I've copied and pasted my essay from Word onto the Textbox with 7395 characters according to the page (5 characters left). This number has already been adjusted for "enter/return" spaces as I know Word does not take that into account. I've followed the troubleshooting questions on the step-by-step page, but am still getting a message that I am exceeding the character limit. Just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same problem, and if they've found a solution to it. Thanks =)
VitaminC
Yeah I'm experiencing the same thing too...but no I don't have a solution unfortunately. I've been playing around with it and I max out the application at 7400whenever Word says its 7386 chars for me. No idea why there's a discrepancy, but we might have to cut out a word or two for the 14 char difference.
maelstrom
are you using arial-12?
VitaminC
Yeah. Did you try removing the line breaks? That's two chars not counted by Word, each!
ubc_earnestw
yea I've used arial-12pt. And I've removed as many line breaks as I could...=\ Alright I'll try your suggestion and try to dwindle things down. Maybe I'll change all 'physicians' into 'doctors' to save character space ahaha. ubc_earnestw
Oh and also its my textbox on the actual admissions page that says I have 5 characters left. Not word. Like you said, Word doesn't take into account the line breaks. Maybe I'll shoot an e-mail over to admissions and let you all know if I figure anything out. intouch
Not sure if this info helps, but I had the same problem a few days ago in the NAQ section... THEIR text counter said I had 4 chars remaining, and then rejected my entry as too long. This happened a few times in a few different categories. Very frustrating!! Keep us posted with what admissions says.
isaiah4110
probably a silly question, but do we need to indent for every paragraph? I did that in word, but when I copied and pasted into the box, all of my indents were gone.
future_doc
That's fine.
