Employment vs. non-acad?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've done lots of research that I've received scholarships for (paid by Canadian institute of Health Research).

As someone else mentioned, I'm debating whether I should put my research in the diversity of experiences or in the employment section.

Thing is, my diversity of experiences is pretty full, whereas my employment section would be almost bare without my research.

Does anyone know whether adcom weighs non-acad component more than the employment section? Or are they looked at equally, so it doesnt matter where I put it?

Thanks, and all the best!

according to the faq on the website, they take employment, naq section, personal essay all into consideration when considering the overall naq score. they do not make any mention of whether or not one group is given more weight than another, so i doubt anyone here would be able to give you a good answer. Your overall application is judged in its entirety. The good news is that one weak section can be overcome with another strong section.

i am very unclear on the NAQ scoring. What are that 5 X 5 = 25 for each of the five naq sections or the 6 x 3 + 3.5 x 2 = 25 naq points formulas all about?

I'm guessing that the 25 points is based on those 5 categories. But, they aren't necessarily entirely based on the "non-academic experiences" section alone. Perhaps they are evaluated by looking at your essay, employment, awards, and non-academics.
