vivo
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can provide me with a bit more detail as to what is expected for the ABS questions. Should we stick to just one example per question (as we have only 700 characters)? I have not been able to attend any information sessions, so any info would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance my friends
DrManhattan
Hey, One example is about all you can fit in that length. I think your best bet would be to develop one good example rather than trying to talk about multiple examples. The adcoms are probably more interested in the 'why' and 'how' than the 'what'. Hope that helps. Good luck!
luckyduck378
Hi Viv, I think that it would depend on the question that you're answering... For instance, you might describe many reasons/experiences that led you to medicine to answer the first question, but for the significant success/failure questions, it would probably be best to describe one concrete example and develop that response as per DrManhattan. Good luck!

HBP
Is anyone else stuck on Question 2, the fit between yourself and McMaster? I am not really sure what they want here...any help would be lovely!Thank you my friends:) Just another way to ensure they get their mac health sci's (this time legitimizing why they chose them... oh they answered Question 2 better)
ChicoMaki
Aren't they asking about why not McMaster? or have I taken the completely wrong approach here.
discworldheavylight
i agree. this question seems to be saying "what about you would make u an inappropriate fit for mac" or am i completely off base?
he-blend
A good approach would be to harshly criticize PBL! \s
maadaputtar
I am concerned about this question too. I think what you guys have interpreted is correct, i.e. what do you think may be a challenge for you at Mac? What I am wondering, however, is whether to then mention something about how you plan, or have already done something, to overcome that challenge. I think I should. What do you guys think? future_doc
They are not asking why you will be a good fit, so you should not necessarily answer the question that has not been asked.
maadaputtar
They are not asking why you will be a good fit, so you should not necessarily answer the question that has not been asked. So you are saying to mention about why you think that Mac may not be a good fit for you and leave it at that? If that is the case, I don't understand the purpose of the question, except maybe they want to see how well do you know Mac's program.
thatonekid
I (respectfully) disagree with f_d. The way I approached the question was to discuss my legitimate concern and then show how I have tools/ability to overcome this concern. I should note that the majority of my answer was devoted to the concern. I only used 1 sentence to discuss how I would overcome it. That way I completely answered the question and was able to show that I had a plan.
