oohpsjin
#2 It is important to find the right fit between medical school and student. What concerns do you have about the fit between you and McMaster? I need help with this question. I don't understand what kind of answer they are looking for. Concerns as in worries? or concerns as in confidence? etc...thanks in advance
future_doc
I don't believe they "are looking for" any specific answer, rather they intend to look into our minds, power of expression, communication skills, the developmentof our answer, does it make sense in context, etc. I believe we each need to consider the questions, use a wide angled lens, self-reflect, put something together and work o n it, see if it needs improvement, is a valid answer. Your answers and mine will be totally different and what goes thru my mind does not go thru yours. I think we are on our own here and perhaps we can receive feedback after we put something together, but not before. My 2c
vivo
I think it's safe to interpret the question as you understand it. If it makes sense for you to answer it as worries about fitting in to McMaster in particular, I think you should answer it that way. I am also unsure exactly what they want, but I think if you write in a clear and concise manner, and explain exactly why you have these concerns, all will be OK At least that's what I'm hoping! future_doc
I agree. Moreover, each of our 5 Answers are judged competitively by separate readers, so it is absolutely impossible to second guess anybody. This is another lottery in our path. Why wouldn't you fit in there? Make sure you know about the school and about yourself--for example (not pertaining to Mac), if you don't like large crowds--why would you apply to a large medical school? They want to know you are prepared for their program.

future_doc
We are some 4,000 plus applicants who toss our hats into the ring. There are, I presume, hundreds of readers, each assigned say 150 Answers to Question 1. The reader will read our Answers and assign a grade. Our total grades from our readers are calculated, thrown in the computer and the highest scores come out the winners. So, in the nature of things, just like with MCAT, we are assigned a (competitive) score - that fits in so as to seal our fate, i.e., interview or no interview (altho the ABS is not the only criteria for interview selection, but it is a factor). All we can do is what we consider is the best of which we are capable, press the submit button and become part of the lottery. Our answers need to be superb 5 times. Lightening needs to strike not once or twice but 5 times.

2ndTimesACharm
Is this something you actually put an honest answer too? Like really, I have no concerns. My only concern is getting in. I don't really have any concerns with the school. Can I say that? I don't have a clue where to start on this one

They want to see that you can fit even with any concerns. You can write about your concern over the competition if that's all you have.

This school is different than others, e.g., 3 years and not 4. So, you need to think about how this school is different and what areas may concern you. Read their website in detail and you will find areas of potential concern. Your potential answer is less than 50 characters and shows absolutely nothing about you.
