Recoil
I'll just repost my response from SDN: PS - was much easier than I expected; the initial pressure passage through me for a loop but I just skipped it and once i was in a rhythm I came back and tackled it; turned out it wasn't too scary. VR - insanely hard in my opinion; science passages were good but the rest weren't. Topics: Irish play (pppplllllease be experimental) Groundwater Oil Painting (if the first passage isn't experimental, then please let this one be) Novels Vs Plays REM Sleep ??? English Clothing Laws WS: Sadly wasn't able to use my pre-thought up examples for either prompt BS: Orgo was pretty easy; but then again, I love orgo. In general this section was much better than I anticipated; had some trouble with some random questions dispersed throughout the 52 questions In general, VR makes me nervous..... REALLY nervous. vraev
Yeah!! I found the verbal to be killer too. My physics and bio...I'm not too sure...I think they mght be ok. I am really worried...this is my 4th time with the mcat. No matter how many practice passages of verbal I did....nothing could prepare me for what I faced today. also I was surpised that were wasn't too much orgo in thr bio section. nino
i just have one Q....i know there r a couple of questions that are experimental, but would it be possible for a WHOLE passage to be experimental? that seems a bit too unlikely to me.... VitaminC
PS was on par with the rest of the AAMCs. VR wasn't too bad for me (then again, I stink at VR, so what do I know), except the clothing one. What the hell was that talking about LOL. I had extra time for that passage too!.... BS - yea the orgo was easy but some of the bio ones threw me off a bit. Edit: Oh yeah, and for the writing sample - what a waste of time thinking of examples beforehand! Good thing I have a background in music and could think of stuff to talk about. and the Education one I was just pulling stuff out of my ass. O_O Overall, I'm expecting maybe 1 down from my average maybe..?

sv3
i actually had more trouble with the discretes than passages on both science sections. Seriously.........they were tough.....for me at least VR was prolly the hardest VR section i have ever ever encountered (and ive done TPR and Ek and AAMCs). WS.........BS as usual. deeman101
Your VR passages actually sound pretty interesting to me. At least more interesting than spanish-galieon-carrying-chinese-artifacts-to-random-places crap that I had to deal with. Felt like I was trying to solve a mystery in the middle of VR. Was that in August of 06 back when the test was still paper? haha or maybe they used the same passage twice... that's the only thing I remember from the test over 3 years ago now. VitaminC
Wow seems like a lot of variation within the VR... They should just give us our multiple choice scores right away and give us our WS score later =P
bj89
i found PS to be the same as the AAMC... the passage with the 2 cylinders and light bulb really messed me up though.... VR = like AAMC, hard and annoying, BS = easy, thankfully only 2 orgo passages.... WS was amazing, i aced the music prompt and didnt do too bad on the education one either and i think the VR topic ur missing is the one where they talk about US electorial systems

supafield
Technically they're not allowed to say. The AAMC looks around on the internet and hassles people (by people I mean the operators of the website) that post any of it's questions, answers or practice tests. However... there is a giant list of prompts on the AAMC website.... I'm not sure if these ones are on... but a lot of the prompts seem to come from that list. http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/preparing/writingsampleitems.htm I took a look and there are only 2 music prompts in the giant list.... maybe it was one of those. spiderpig
Hey guys, I need some advice. I had my mcat on Aug.25 at noon. Everyone was on time, and about the first 5 people were registered and got to start their test. Then at about ten to 12, they started saying there is a slight delay, and so the rest of us (maybe 10 people) remained outside waiting. A couple more people slowly got registered, but they said there was still a problem with the system. Apparently they weren't receiving the tests from Prometric. So we waited, and waited, and waited... :@ About 2 hours went by before I was finally registered and allowed to go in! For a 5 hour test, a 2 hour delay makes quite a bit of difference. I was mentally exhausted about half-way through, and just couldn't concentrate on the passages. By the time I got out, it was dinner-time (7pm). I'm not sure what to do about this. I wrote a complaint at the end of the exam, when they give us space for our feedback. And I want to call in and complain, along with writing a letter to them... But I don't know what exactly to write. I don't know what sort of remedy to demand. I'm just really pissed off because all that preparation has pretty much gone down the toilet. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or any advice to give me? Who could I go to, to make them actually listen to me?
terryann
This sounds really crazy, but if you think, it really affected you, then try to rewrite immediately....see if they will let you rewrite for free...if they will not reimburse, I would not focus on that now. deal with that later, ...I would try to rewrite early next week...anywhere..but that is me... future_doc
terryann has given you excellent advice. Write to whomever there is an email address to complain. To the people who set it up, locally and in US. All "in writing" and demand an immeidate rewrite for free, given you were caused to waste your money, your time, your effort. You got to do what you got to do to protect your interests. Moreover, if that does not work, pay again under protest, even if you need to sue them in small claims court, you need the score that worked for, they cut off your head and may have cost you a year. Be proactive, protect your best interests, speak with your parents, is there an educator and/or lawyer in the family?

Be proactive, protect your best interests, speak with your parents, is there an educator and/or lawyer in the family? Sadly, no. I got down some of the other students' email addresses, but they haven't replied to my email. I was gonna call AAMC today, but they closed by 3pm, so I'm gonna do that tomorrow. The reason I really don't want to rewrite is that there will be a little baby due in the house very soon (less than a week)... I doubt I'll be able to get much sleep after that, so I may be in worse condition if I try to write on one of the September dates. I hate my life. future_doc
When you contact AAMC, you need a plan, otherwise it is useless. You need to decide qat you want from them, and then you need their email address to put down bothyour complaint and remedy in writing, even if your remedyy is a free rewrite at a time of your choosing. Think it thru carefully just like you are a doc with a patient! Life always has detours and these detours, even if we did not want them or dont see 'why me?' strengthen us....so, love your life, this is a bump on the road that you will your children about and laugh. Life is just beginning for us all and another year or two won't make the lsightest difference over our lifetime. I have had so many setbacks, I wouldn't know where to begin, except suffice to say, these turned out to make me stornger, more mature, more capable and a better candidate. Have a sense of hunour whether victim or on top, carry on and keep on your path!!
