waldo-ubc
Hey guys, I'm a little stumped and I was hoping someone can help me out. I'm currently in the UBC/BCIT Biotechnology Bsc honours program. Its a 5 year program: 3 years at UBC and 2 years at BCIT. http://www.students.ubc.ca/calendar/index.cfm?tree=12,215,410,946 The thing is, im not too sure what to do with the BCIT courses I've taken. Does anyone know how I can incorporate them into my overall GPA? Really hoping someone can help me out, Thanks!
gnomey
Not sure you can, I attended BCIT and they don't count my grades from there.
waldo-ubc
Thanks for the reply gnomey. I emailed my question to Admissions and they replied with the following, We will use all marks for your Biotech program (UBC & BCIT). We will use the scale provided by BCIT to convert your grades. I guess it depends on the program. But now I'm curious about this scale.
AndreaM
UBC is notoriously secretive about the scale they use to calculate your averages.
gnomey
I was in medical radiography which is a diploma program so maybe thats the difference.
mariepar
I'm pretty certain that UBC has been using my grades from a Diploma (Associate of Arts in Visual Arts) in calculating my GPA, because they allow me to use the courses from this diploma as credits towards the minimum credit requirement when I use the 10 year cut off. I don't think they would use the art courses for credit if their grades did not count. In an email the admissions committee even made a point of saying that my arts courses do indeed have grades assigned to them (I had the transcript sent to them directly and had not seen it--25 year old diploma) and that the courses count. And this is visual arts. Go figure!
