sensazn
Let's say I did: I did 1 full year at University A And 3 full years at University B The GPA calculation is based on the two best full years... But does that mean it can only come from one program/university? ie. can I use my Uni A GPA, and one of the Uni B? Or do the two best full years only come from Uni B? Thanks for your help! Provided that the years you use meet the requirements, yes you can use both university gpa's. e.g. University A 3.89 University B 3.08 3.61 3.93 UWO Admissions = 3.91 Let me know if there is anything else, I would be happy to help. :)
deathvvv
what if you went to multiple university in the same year? ie 4 courses at uni A, 1 at uni B thanks
PastaInhaler
what if you went to multiple university in the same year? ie 4 courses at uni A, 1 at uni B thanks If you think about it like this, you still had pretty much the same amount of class hours, provided that these were full time course hours, and not modified somehow, e.g. less than 13 weeks per semester, etc. Since you did end up taking five courses, your GPA would be based on all five courses. You would just convert the courses to the OMSAS gpa according to the corresponding university, then calculate the average overall for all five courses. sensazn
@PastaInhaler Thanks for the answer, and I hope that's the case... But are you sure? How do you know? On http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/education/admissions/medicine/documents/FAQs20080930.pdf it states: "#15. What if I have an undergraduate degree from some time ago, but am working towards or have recently completed a second undergraduate degree? Students who have one undergraduate degree already and are working towards, or have recently completed, a second degree are not eligible to apply before the final year of their program which must be an Honors Degree or equivalent program. 60% of the courses (3 out of 5 full courses or equivalent) taken in each of the upper years of the second degree program must be senior-level courses. GPA consideration is based on the two best years of the second degree program only. Applicants who are offered a conditional acceptance must complete all second degree program requirements prior to registration in the M.D. program. (Approved by the Medicine Admissions Committee, May 2008)" This is what worries the heck out of me, because my second degree program isn't looking so hot. PastaInhaler
It depends... when you transferred from the first university to the second, was it a part of one degree? e.g. did you transfer courses? if you did, you are still only doing one degree. The case is different, if you quit the first degree at the first university and started a whole other degree at the second university. if you are having problems with the new degree, and have an inkling that you may not make it, bail immediately, and switch to a program that you think you can do well in (score a high gpa), and consider if it will be interesting. e.g. do you hate math? what is the new program in? sensazn
*sigh* its a whole new degree, and unfortunately I can't abandon it. So I guess my GPA will just be Uni B? Would they even look at my Uni A marks? lol.
PastaInhaler
How low of GPA are we talking here? Is it really low, or are you overreacting? Give me a range if you don't want to get in to specifics, but these forums are anonymous, provided you don't reveal too much about yourself. What sorta program is it, if you don't mind my asking? (for this question, just curiosity) PM if needed (will be kept confidential).

Uni A was international but I did World Education Services evaluation and was also granted 8.5 transfer credits in Uni B for these years Thx I actually just got an email reply from Western: As we require a 4-year honours degree or equivalent, you are only eligible to apply in the final year of your Uni B program. We will use the marks from your Uni B degree for the GPA requirement. I hope this helps. M Kennard Medicine Admissions Coordinator
Samira
Thx sensazn This answers my question but it so sad cuz I had an exellent GPA in UniA:( but in UniB do I still need to take 5 courses per year with at least 3 at the level of corresponding year during my last 2 years? (cuz I don't need that many courses to complete my degree and I'm all done with my 3rd and 4th year course requirements)

But if it comes down to it, one of those years must have 3.0FCE/5.0FCE must be upper years.
