DoctorDouche
I won a scholarship to a university I didn't attend and therefore didn't take the scholarship. Should I list that if I've run out of awards to put down?
Microbiodude
....no because technically you were never awarded it. You had to actually attend the university to have been awarded the scholarship.
future_doc
I agree with Microbiodude. However, you certainly were "offered scholarship at Yale U" which you "refused b/c did not attend Yale".
DrManhattan
I would put it down (unless it was the automatic entrance average scholarships, which you can get so many of if your marks are high and you just apply to a bunch of universities for the hell of it). DoctorDouche
It was a $25000 I turned down and therein lies my dilemma. I feel like if I put it down it might do more harm then good because it shows I can turn down a really good offer. Or should I spin it like "it helped me realize that money isn't everything and the program at another school was more important than the scholarship..." djmackj
entrance scholarships usually don't carry much weight because you never know the criteria that each university is basing their decision on. $25k sounds like a significant award, and if you can find a small blurb from the university's website on the qualities they looked for in their candidates, then by all means put it in. I'd say don't put in the "it helped me realize..." stuff in, because if it's an entrance scholarship, the adcom will see right through that superficiality. good luck
