elsa_mina
Hi I am thinking of writing the MCAT but i don't know where to begin. I am from Newfound land and unfortunately here we do not have prep classes; however, i read that the classes are over rated. As far as the studying material goes, where can i get them? which ones do i need? and which company offers the cheapest and the best selection? can someone tell me where to start? thanx
Toodlee
Hey, Google exam-krackers and I would highly recommend buying the exam prep kit. Its pricey but its worth it. Or go on Amazon online and see if you can get a better deal on the individual books. You should also get a hold of the exams. If you need help finding those send me a PM and I'll try to help you out. Remember, step one get to know what the MCAT looks like in terms of the sections and time allocations per section. Then get your prep material. Finally start attacking the sections. Good luck! AndreaM
The AAMC website has access to old exams including one full length test that is free. Doing those ones will give you an idea of where your strengths and weaknesses are so that you can focus your stuyding. I also picked up a Kaplan study book from my university bookstore and it was pretty good.
MCATStrategy
I would also say that the Kaplan Premiere Book is a good place to start. For verbal, the ExamKrackers 101 passages is a must have for sure. All of the AAMC practice tests can be purchased online and done online when you are ready. But definitely do the AAMC MCATs some time before your real MCAT. The EK 101 VR passages was pretty good. Aside from that, you could probably get practice materials used from someone who has either done a TPR prep course or EK. Practice doing questions and passages...
