Forget it mushy, you need to go to CEGEP in Quebec, and to have top marks. This is for IP CEGEP, fast track. For example, top CEGEP students are accepted into McGill Med School on basis they go to McGill premed for one year, takin g science or whatever, maintain a certain minimum and they automatically go to med school the following year.

Same system for fast track to law school in Quebec, ecept no extra yeasrof study - from CEGEP directly into law.

You lose this lottery by being OOP and living in ON, however, you are no doubt on track tru your own system. If one of your parents takes up residence in QU, then you can be considered a QU resident, go to CEGEP and poissibly get into med school in QU this way. McGill is the only English speaking med school in the province and next year, won't even require MCAT for IP applicants who graduate from a Quebec university. However, under your circumstances now, you would need MCAT as an OOP and I think you compete for just one of 8 seats reserved for your category.

Yah, but I was born in quebec and a few of my relatives live there. People actually don't need MCAT next year?

And what its IP CEGEP and premed?

Since you were born in Quebec, you would qualify as an in-province (IP) student. However, if you want to go into premed, you have to have done CEGEP....in Quebec the schooling system is a little bit different from Ontario in that you go to high school until grade 11. Then if you want to continue on, you go and do 2 years of CEGEP (so kind of like 2 years of college) before going into university.

If you get REALLY good grades in CEGEP, then you can apply into medicine without having to do a university undergraduate degree. If accepted, you go and do 1 year of university (premed) and then get to go straight into med school (so basically saving you 2 years of an undergrad degree, since undergrad degrees are only 3 years for students out of CEGEP vs. 4 years for students from out of province high schools).

So essentially you don't have the priviledge of applying to premed unless you move to Quebec and do CEGEP, regardless of the fact that you're considered an IP student.

Hope that clears things up.

Hmmm....I'm not sure. The thing is that it's a different curriculum in Ontario and Quebec in that, in Quebec, by the time you finish grade 11, you have a high school degree. In Ontario, you don't get that until you finish grade 12....so if you come to Quebec while in high school, you might be put in a grade back....but again, I'm not positive about this. It would be best to contact the individual CEGEP schools and ask them.

However, if you're moving to Quebec strictly so that you can do CEGEP and go into the pre-med program, I would strongly suggest you reconsider for 2 major reasons:

1. You'll be away from your family and friends and in the end there are no guarantees. You have to have ridiculously high marks in CEGEP to get into premed....so what if you move here, leave all of your friends and family behind and then don't get into premed? Was it worth it for the fact that you might potentially save 2 years? In my opinion, no.

2. Undergrad is your opportunity to grow. You'll meet a lot of people, make amazing friends that will last the rest of your life, and you'll be exposed to different aspects of life that will make you a more mature and better rounded person. I've met a lot of premeds in my day, and in my opinion, this is something that they are seriously lacking.

Premeds, please don't hate on me. This is just my opinion from observation over the years.
