question for current/recent grad students

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i realize this question has been beaten to the ground...but I'd really like to know from past grad students who have gotten in if they indicated their 'submitted' articles on the omsas sketch...

The reason I ask is because I currently have 2 already published articles, but also 3 that are being submitted next week basically (I'm first author on one, and second on two others).

Is there a point of indicating this? Because otherwise it is just taking up some pretty demanding sketch real estate that could be used for other things...I just want the point to get across that I'm big into research I suppose.

Also, what do people think about that last point? I mean, due to me being a grad student, quite a few of my entry points have to do with research (either awards, abstracts, papers, podium presentations and what not...)....Is this a bad move to take on the expense of other kinds of entries?

any input would be appreciated.

Hi neuronix,

What you are referring to are manuscripts under preparation, and I would indicate them as such (I didn't put mine under individual headings, but as a group). As far as abstracts go I would put any international conferences you presented at as individual entries as they are something worth highlighting, but in my situation I had nearly a dozen abstracts where I was not the presenter so I just grouped those as a whole.

Ultimately, I listed all published papers I was included in as their own entries, and grouped my manuscripts that were submitted/under prep. For abstracts I mentioned my first author ones, grouped the rest, and only alluded to the internal conferences/research days from your particular university. For what it's worth, that was my plan of attack.
