shestheman
Hey, any testimonies on TPR for VR? thanks!
hkmedic
TPR is pretty good. I'd rank it about on par as EK, in terms of difficulty and similarity to actual MCAT VR. I'm not sure whether TPR has a book solely for VR that's available at bookstores, but if you take TPR course, then they will give you a decent workbook of VR passages. On the other hand, with EK, you can simply buy 101 VR Passages Book, which comes complete with 14 tests. EK also provides better explanations to answers and tips with regards to arguments, fallacies, premises, critical thinking-related stuff, etc.
DrManhattan
I would definitely stay away from TPR and Kaplan for verbal. These are designed to get you at a 9-10 level. If you want 11+, use the EK101 and practice, practice, practice. (I scored a 12 last year with the brute force method, while a few people i know who scored 14's and 15's on the other sections only ended up with 8 or 9 using these so called "strategies".) DrManhattan
could you please explain? Just focus on the passage, then answer the questions. If you're having trouble focusing or understanding the passage, THIS is what you should work on improving, and NOT shortcuts or quickfix strategies. If you are not reading the passage quickly enough, there are several books and websites out there that can help you read faster. The more you practice, the better you get, and the less likely you are to run out of time. Picking and choosing questions or passages, skimming, or guessing the harder ones to save time will only be detrimental to your VR score. Good luck. Reading faster... like the speed reading stuff i used to see advertised on TV?
