Queens....cares "least" about grades?

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this....

1. Queens considers any year (Sept-Apr) with 3 credits as full-time.

Isn't it SIGNIFICANTLY easier to get 3.8 gpa in 3 classes compared to 5?

2. Also, if you add the fact that Queens will consider your last two years if neccessary for GPA cutoff....it seems like Queens cares the least about grades (relative to the other medical schools).

If they consider students with 4 years of cGPA (full-time sched) more-or-less equal to students with 2 years of GPA (over 3 courses)...what is really the most important factor for Queens? volunteer-type work?

PS - I really hope this isn't misinterpreted and I get flamed like "well if you dont like queens dont apply there!!!!!".....I dont have the strongest grades myself so Queens is really intriguing......I really just want to see if these things about Queens jump out at anyone else too

I think the Queen's outlook is this: if your GPA is a 3.7 (or whatever the cutoff may be for a particular year), you have shown that you will be able to get through and do well enough in med school. At that point, the kind of person you are becomes more important, hence the 100% interview.

I think it makes a lot of sense -- while a big part of practicing medicine is being an expert and having knowledge, a person with a 3.9 or 4.0 during their undergrad is not necessarily going to be a better physician than a person with a 3.7. It's kind of why medical school grades don't matter so much either and are just (honors/)pass/fail.

wow....100% interview

yeah just went back to their site and read that...

"Applicants who successfully make these cuts are invited for an interview and their academic marks are no longer considered in the admission process. Those applicants are then assessed based on personal experiences and personal characteristics through an interview."

I am guessing that aside from the normal oral questions, they must have some kind of actual written personality test or something?

Any other schools you know of that are heavily weighted on interview?
