I really need some advice about where to go from here. I graduated this year from U of T with a 3.1 cGPA, with a 3.3 in my 3rd year and a 3.5 in my last year. Bad I know. I haven't taken the MCAT, and my volunteer/ECs are likely below average. My dad is telling me I should get a masters right now and do the application process next year, but how much is a masters really going to help me? What would you do if you were in my position? Would taking an extra semester help me boost my GPA or does it have to be a full year, and would I be able to take it at another school, since I would prefer to not take any courses at UofT.

a master's isnt going to help you in your situation as all of your undergrad marks still matter. Also, look at the math. One semester, not even one year of a 4.0 will bring your marks up to a competitive degree (unless of course you consider that western/queens take the last 2 years/best 2 years/whatever rmorelan will say and then you'd have a 3.75 which a lot of people on this site would agree is on the lower end of being competitive. I'm also not sure how that 2 year rule would work for you if you took courses at another university. I know this may sound painful but it seems the best thing for you if you want to go to a Canadian med school is to take a second undergrad. If I were you I'd look into studying abroad (Ireland, Austrailia, the Caribbean)

So taking another semester is a possibility then?

no, not unless you plan on taking one year. and that only applies IF you're going to go for the Queen's/Western's 2 year rules and if you can get like a 4.0 in this one year
