tekken3 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 hey everyone, i'm filling out the application for USask and it's asking me about which schools i am applying to. should i put down the american schools that i am applying to as well? is there any way of them knowing where i am applying to in the us?
future_doc Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I understand the dilemma, you dont want to lie but it is really none of their business. My reaction would be not to give full disclosure and consider the question as relating to Canada only This question smacks of going beyond what is reasonable. Why not email them and ask the purpose of the question, why it should make any difference. Let a friend who is not applying email them.
AG22 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hey, ya I have a q about this too. I'm not applying to US schools, but I am applying to all omsas schools (minus 1) and dal and u of c. would this be frowned upon? Cos I do have a genuine interest in U of S, but as of right now, with all those schools being listed (a lot! haha) I don't want it to be seen negatively by the adcoms. What are the rest of yous guys and gals doing?
watermelon7 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 it doesn't really matter, i put down the other schools last year and still got in so no worries
scott_88 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 it doesn't really matter, i put down the other schools last year and still got in so no worries Yeah I'm definitely worried about this. I'm applying to 16 schools total (8 US, 5 Ontario, 3 others including U of S) and really don't want to come across as a mass-applicant. The above poster has had previous experience doing this. Can I ask how many you applied to?
watermelon7 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Yeah I'm definitely worried about this. Can I ask how many you applied to? i believe it was 4 ontario schools and then dal and calgary but if your OOP your online application doesn't really come into play...if u meet the cutoff you get an interview and after that its 100% interview for admission purposes
Swagga Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Yeah I'm definitely worried about this. Can I ask how many you applied to? I would have figured that they would think that you'd just be serious about making medicine your career... but like everyone else says, don't lie.
terryann Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I would put it down because I think it would show arrogance if you felt that confident that you could apply to one school and get accepted...I have never heard of anyone applying to one school...I would think that they would be looking for honesty..
future_doc Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Watermelon has had the acid test. Have a friend write to the Ombudsperson of that university to ask if that is a fair question, what difference does it make and should ask formally for this question to be removed as it smacks of being prejudicial, while the answers should be entirely irrelevant - or the med school is up to no good! Demand an immediate reply.
