Haydamak
Entrance to medical school is highly competitive. What plans have you made in the event that you are not admitted this year (or ever)? Describe any specific actions you have taken as part of this planning. Can anyone give me an idea of how you would respond to this question? Do you think listing too many options to fall back on will affect me negatively? steelie
Be honest with this answer. What are your plans if you dont get into medicine?? Based on the odds, you won't get into NOSM next year... so what are you going to do? I wouldn't list too many options. Seriously think about it.. and come up with one or two possibilities. Really, the stats are not working in your favour. Plus, there's not that much space to go into details. I think my answer was two paragraphs; direct and to the point. That being said, don't let such a question get you down.
Haydamak
I suppose what I was getting at is... Would portraying a secure and successful present career to fall back on or listing other options available for education make them less inclined to accept you based on the idea of "this person is in less immediate need" ? Write about what you intend to work on if you don't get it--don't say you'll give up and move on to something else.
steelie
Dude. I think you're thinking too hard about this one. I'm sure they want to hear that you're going to keep applying if you don't get in, and that medicine is your life goal, all you've ever wanted since you were 3.. blah blah blah, but they also want to know that you have a solid plan B in the meantime and that you won't waste your life away. supafield
Tell them you will become a malpractice lawyer and target only N.O.S.M. students if they don't let you in. Nothing like a petty threat for winning the hearts of the admissions committee.

terryann
I CALLED 1-800-PSYCIC and was told that I would be accepted into all medical schools that I apply to this year. I will review my choices, and let you know on May 15th, if I will be accepting. Upon hearing the news, I did not fill out your other short essays.
