dreamer
Does anyone know how the GPAs are calculated for second degrees, especially if you will finish it within two years? Like, if you're going into your last year of your second degree, how are your grades looked at?
NWOsw
NOSM takes the GPA from both degrees and then applies the highest GPA to your application. As long as you are in your final year (ie graduate this May) then they will accept the GPA of this 2nd degree. They only look at the new credits you took to complete this degree (not the credits you transfered over). I hope this helps.
aqm
So two year degrees are accepted????? (Nursing at Utoronto is a second entry 2 yr program only accepting students with a previous degree) TThanks
NWOsw
I am not sure if "2 year degrees" are accepted. Ive really never heard of them before. However, in many cases, those completing a 2nd degree are transfering credits from their 1st degree. Therefore often people complete a 4 year degree in 2 years or a 3 year degree in 1. NOSM counts these. I wonder agm if this is the case for your nursing program too. although the program is 2 years, they require a first degree (likely to transfer previous credits and therefore you do not need to take electives, for example) For example, my 2nd degree would have technically only taken me 1 year to complete for a 3 year degree. And yes they are counting this.
aqm
ya its a nursing degree....so u mean marks from the first degree would also be counted?
NWOsw
no, its my understanding that the transfered credits are not counted in GPA. I do think you need to keep calling admission regarding your specific circumstance tho.
headshok2002
They only count 3 and 4 year degrees. A 2 year nursing, 1 year teaching (or whatever else) is not counted.
