overseas volunteering

Recommended Posts

Oh, so sorry to hear that you didn't go past the interview stage. I am a graduate student, so hopefully that can help me a little.

-----> I am surprised someone actually made sense of my username. It tells me what your background is :)

I don't think it is essential (although I didn't have it and got rejected post interview last year :(). But if your stats are stellar you should get accepted (my VR was 8 which may have contributed to the rejection)

------> By the way AWESOME username

out of my curiosity what does your username mean? And to my understanding it is not essential. Friend of mine got in after 3rd year, with 4.0 GPA 4xfirst author publications + TONS of other stuff. I know that he didn't go overseas. Other 4 friends in med school all went overseas but got into different med schools, none got accepted at uoft. This is not stats but I hope it still helps a little :). I went overseas but I doubt it will be any significant in the overall process

i never volunteered overseas. i never even volunteered in a hospital

having valuable experiences and being able to market the experiences you do have and why they are valuable to yourself/medicine is way more important than the exact experience

there's no magic formula whatsoever

Yeah, and trust me...the shots are no fun. Just go work in a soup-kitchen! (Seriously, there's lots of stuff to do right at home that they will love you for).

haha, literally it means Son of a Mother. But intended meaning would be to represent the dignity and one's readiness to aggressively protect the semi-holy relationship between him, as a son, and his mother from being criticized or disgraced. I speak Shahpuri punjabi, so it might have some other intended meanings in Doaabi or Pwadhi punjabi (Gurmukhi) variants. :P
