October 15 deadline for references as well?

Recommended Posts

Referees can still send in the references after the deadline has passed. Came in their e-mail that they've sent out just today ! :)

I don't know if thats true. The email stated that if you can submit your application before the deadline and that you dont have to wait for your references to be completed before you submit your application.

So for example, you can submit you application say tomorrow without your references having completed the reference form, but i think everything should be done by oct 15.

This is what i thought the email meant

are you sure? I just re-read that email (for unsubmitted applicants right?) and it did not say that. The email i have just mentioned how you could ensure the reference is actually in the system. I'm a terrible reader but triple checked............

from what i know, its Oct 15th.

Well, they didn't really make it clear in their e-mail. All they said was "Referees can still submit their letters of reference after you have submitted your application."

I guess I just assumed that like OMSAS, they would be lenient with late LORs.

I guess one's best bet is not to disclose anything of this sort to the referees and give them the firm deadline of Oct 15th! Or, to e-mail/call the admissions office ?

EDIT: Hey you guys, the website (application form) has this to say...

Click on the application tab, go to the side bar (LHS) and click on information.

"If your file does not indicate that your references have been received, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to contact your referees. Files missing one or more letters nevertheless will be forwarded for review."

So that means your LORs can still go in after oct 15th...however it's not preferred. Hope that helps sort this out! :)

Listen. Be very careful when saying something is not really due at a certain point. These letters are due on the 15th. the email you speak of never said its ok to be sent after the 15th. as an above poster said, if you submit today, your references can be sent in until the 15th. If your referee submits a letter after the 15th, it is late. the files will already be getting sorted/reviewed

i just get concerned when i see people incorrectly talking about deadlines. make sure you are 100% sure before saying a deadline really isn't a deadline

thanks
