Future_doc has helped me ALOT , and I do believe she is doing a great service to help others without asking for anything return. My contact with her has only been on the internet. I have found her to be intelligent, a skilled writer, and puts alot of heart and soul into helping others with their essay. I am grateful to her for her help and time.

So...do you trust someone...life is full of taking chances and risks, but you have to be happy with your decision...if you feel uncomfortable then do not contact her because you probably will be second guessing all of her advice which would be wasting her time too......your answer to the question lies within yourself...go with what you feel comfortable with...

Hi all forum users, I am referred to this forum by a friend and he recommended future_doc to take a look at my personal statement, can I trust her? How many people have gotten help from her?

Thank you all.

LMAO, youre asking as if she's got to help you out....she's giving you part her freetime for free (if she ever does lmao).

Just ask her kindly, if she accepts then she'll answer you. It's up to you to believe her or not...If you want official answers, contact the universities you want to get in. Simple as that.

Perhaps I should ask - what concerns you about the potential offer of help? It is probably easier to address those directly :)

classy.........very classy.

I've never understood how someone could rip off someone else's statement anyway. Are your experiences so similar in undergrad? (I'm an older mature applicant so i don't get it). So you have a killer sentance and someone taps it. It won't make a difference. Jeez.

I was planning on giving mine to future doc and I didn't even know it was a she. Someone offers help (was it even offered in the first place?, or are you doing a pre-screening?), you take it or leave it....or at least be discreet about the background checks.

Another classic first post.......

no offense, wish_doctor, but this is a bizarre first post to make to a forum.

I didn't realize that people who are offering free help on here need references and verifiers. Perhaps it needs to become part of our siggy...

I guess they are afraid someone that the statement can be stolen and used by someone else (very unlikely). Oh well :)

For the record it is my understanding future_doc is not even applying in Ontario this year.

That's true rmorelan....and for that reason, everything one reads has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Also, that is why maybe it is best not to get help from other pre-meds if you're paranoid about an essay being stolen.

I guess I am just a naive, small town girl who trusts easily and helps out often for nothing in return. My mind doesn't gravitate to the negative very frequently!

That's a good thing!

I would also point out that people out to "screw others" don't usually have a long post history of doing pretty much nothing but help people :)

Very true. I have a hard enough time not screwing myself over that I never even thought someone else would prevent me from getting into medschool by ripping off a few sentences from my PS (being a not so good writer is a great preventative measure though)

Not that I dont trust my friend but he could have been ripped off as well. I am a little cautious about giving out my personal statement because it could have been stolen or sold to a third party like turnitin.com? I have read tons of stories about how premeds back stab others etc. My apologies to future_doc and all that get offended by this I really don't wanna pin "Thief" on you in fact I believe you offer kind services to others I only wanted to see if other have been offered helped already. Again, future_doc will probably reject to help me.

if your cautious enough to ask publicly about it, you prolly shouldnt let others read it. no matter what the outcome, and no matter how much help you get, you will still be worried. just save yourself the stress and edit it yourself or ask people you know first hand. stress free isnt it? simplicty is highly underrated - and dont jack that sentance - its part of my PS, a killer quote indeed

well f_d helped me for one if that's what you want to know :) . Also, I have read some of my friends ps and f_d shared her's with me as well. Those things are highly highly personal, if anyone is stupid enough to copy and paste someone else's personal statement and use it as his/her own then that person is too dumb to be a doctor in the first place. On this note, I can assure you f_d is not that dumb and in fact she is very intelligent. To answer your second point of it being stolen, yes I suppose theoretically f_d or anyone you send your essay to can steal it and just use it to screw you up. They can sell it to a third party. But if they do so, you can sue them or whatever in court, these anonymous forums are after all not that anonymous. So to my final point, why would someone offer to help and screw everyone else while risking her own application. ps: I am sure f_d has helped a bunch and if she does sell the personal statements just to screw us up then it will most likely be disputed in court and ruin all our lives. From my understanding, she is 1) smart enough to not do it. 2)she will not do it morally. To my conclusion I trust her and appreciate her help!
