Madini
Hi, I'm from Toronto. The only experience I have in a rural community is a month in the North. Do I have any chances? Thanks.
steelie
Your chances would be very, very slim, even with an excellent interview. I am basing this on my class profile (E2009) and what I know of the upper year classes.
Madini
So there is a slight chance that I may get an interview, given my GPA, and my geographic location?
AdamP
I'm not going to tell you what to do. But I have far better stats and live in a more rural area and am not going to waste my money with nosm.
NWOsw
At NOSM there are three major things they look at pre-interview: 1) GPA, 2) Sketch and Questions 3) Context: rural, Northern, Francophone, Aboriginal peoples, etc. If you lack strength in one of these areas, then the other two must really be good. However, in your circumstance it seems you are limited in two of the three areas. That being said, your chances are always zero if you dont apply at all. hmmmm
How bout for someone with mid 3.8s and I did live in a rural area for 8 years after birth (in another country).
steelie
With a mid 3.8 and living in a rural area, you should get an interview. Beyond that... tough to say. It's worth applying!
NWOsw
I agree with steelie, you should at least try and apply.

Hopeful Med
Hi, I'm from Toronto. My cumulative GPA is 3.5. The only experience I have in a rural community is a month in the North. Do I have any chances? Thanks. My GPA is higher than yours, I am from a rural area north of Thunder Bay and was working there when I was interviewed. I managed to get in this year after three tries so to be blunt you have no chance. NOSM's mandate is rural, Northern, Francophone, Aboriginal etc. Why would you waste your time?
