Meas
I noticed that we are not allowed to smooth the surface of the soap with our hands. Does this also mean that we are not allowed to smooth it with the edge of the ruler? Every time I smooth the surface, I will accidentally carve deeper, and thus, in my final soap, I will have incorrect measurements. Thanks!
widedentist
No you cant use the ruler. It takes a lot of practice but eventually youll be able to obtain a straight plane with your blade. As you shave deeper and deeper you have to take off smaller and smaller flakes. Just make a constant effort to always ensure your blade is never angled below parallel with the soap so you dont cut to deep by accident. When you first start it is REALLY hard, everyone goes through it though so just keep practicing. After a few packs of soap you'll be surprised at how much better you get. For the first few juts only worry about the carving itself, but then make sure you start timing yourself once you have your technizue down.
