I will try to summarize.

BOM - Year 1 and half of year 2 is 8:30-3:30 classes/small group session and anatomy/histology labs. You have mid term and final exams usually for each unit (8 of them total).

ICM - second half of year 2 is shadowing in the hospital primarily. So hours are usually between 8-5 but with lots of breaks.

Year 3/4 - clerkship consists of rotations and thus the hours change regarding which rotation you are in. For me surgery I worked around 12-15 hours every day and then every 4th you are on call. Internal is also long hours. But in family med I worked 9-5 with no call. So most are somewhere in between.

Hope that gives a better idea.

Can you specify for the BOM.

What's the ratio between small group and lecture? Is small group the same as PBL style?

Also, do you study any basic sciences in years 3 and 4?

Each year it changes becoming more focused on PBL small groups than in the past. Also it varies by unit. Unit 1 has almost no small groups but unit 8 is probably 50%. And yes, small group is PBL style.

As for basic sciences in year 3/4 not really. Any basic sciences you learn is on your own after your work in the hospital. Usually by then your basic sciences is pretty good and the hospital refreshes your memoroy and sheds light on things you may not know as well as youd like stimulating you to read more about it.
