I guess it depends on how much you'll be saving, financially and emotionally if you got in here but placed the deposit anyway.... Better be safe than sorry since American schools know if you rejected a school that accepted you and then had to reapply

I'm joining in on the fun!

Actually thought I bombed it - Well here's hoping my UWO went well then.

So does anybody know the pattern at which the WL moves? How many spots does it move after the meds stuff goes out May 15? I know that position #27 last year heard back during frosh week or something.

Man...im supposed to begin classes at casewestern on August 9th..orientation is on 2nd..and UoTs waitlist moves big time in August...lets see if i get in then somehow i have to abandon ship and lose 25 K of depost at school..darn.

But yes search UofT waitlist here..last year it move to about 23 or 24 IP..total 27 including OOP.

The year before was 20 or 21...but there is no information if that was IP only..

year before that (07/08) it was 40..probably 33 or 34 of those were IP.

We have to wait till August dude :(..summer will SUCK!

oh damn...I see...:( I'm IP...going to be a long long summer, lol.

Hey I'd just start at Case and then if it happens I'd just come back and skip out on Case...$25K is a lot to lose but just consider if you were attending UBC that's pretty darn expensive too, but dude, the convenience and satisifaction of being where you want to be is priceless.

Does the waitlist move all during summer or is it mostly just one massive movement in august?

There's a slight bit of movement over the first few months of the summer (ie people going to McGill, med school, etc) but the majority of the movement will happen in august

That's when final deadlines are

There's 2 'deadlines' ... one in late april and one in late august. In both cases, you have to put a deposit down (several THOUSAND) to hold your spot (in april) and to finally accept (in aug)

It's very common for most people to put down the first deposit, thus holding their spot.

However, b/w now and August, people may change their plans, go to another school (ie: Western lets their acceptances out in July) or choose another career path (ie: med schools let their acceptances out in mid-May), etc.

If I remember from last year, the wait list only moved 3 spots from April to mid-July.

So yes, the wait is on. Good luck.

Alright, i got information from Usask about their waitlist and i am pretty darn sure that UoT's waitlist operates the same way! This all makes a lot of sense..this is what the admissions person had to say:

"The College does operate with a Waitlist: all applicants who perform within a certain threshold are placed on the Waitlist (Saskatchewan and non-Saskatchewan Residents together) and take the place of any declinations by order of their rank. However, if a Saskatchewan Resident declines, the next highest Saskatchewan Resident on the Waitlist is offered that position. If a non-Saskatchewan Resident declines, the offer goes to the next highest applicant (Saskatchewan or non-Saskatchewan) on the Waitlist"

This now explains why UoT had only 4 OOPs last few years. When the non-residents declined..the spot went to the next resident or non resident on the list. If a resident declines..then it goes to the next resident on the list. So in a way the waitlist is also biased towards IP.

Thought i'd share the info! Gluck to us throughout this summer!

Has anyone that mailed in their UT Waitlist form received a confirmation of them receiving it??

I mailed mine out the next day on Wednesday at 9am, and it's been over a week with no confirmation that they have received it.

They normally email me right after they received something I mailed.

Panicking because I don't want to lose my spot on the waitlist because of Canada Post's sluggishness and unreliability!

Don't worry I handed mine in personally last thursday and have not heard from them either...well then again, maybe we should both worry!!

Oh snap. i'm going to email them TONIGHT.

Good thing i scanned the waitlist form before i mailed it as precaution that CanPost may screw up.

Crap! I didn't....hmm. Let me know what they say about that...because it's due April 26 I think..

That's why i'm panicking!! 26th is Monday! Tomorrow is Saturday. They're not here on the weekend. Arghhh, if CanPost make me lost my spot in the waitlist, i won't be a happy camper.
