liszt
If any of you folks watched Med Students on the old Life Network, you might remember Emily Ellingsen, a med student featured as she dealt with being legally blind in medical school. Unfortunately, she passed away earlier this year following a battle with cervical cancer. The Times-Colonist recently published some excerpts of notes she posted throughout her illness. I'm grateful her family wished to share this; her words and spirit are inspirational: Emily Ellingsen's Journey Edit: Here is the story about Emily referred to in the above: Emily Ellingsen was fearless in life, madly in love

AMmd
that is very sad. I remember watching her on the show and wondering how she will manage her blindness and her career. She was truly inspirational and one of my favorites on the show.

Islander33
I cried the first time I read it when the article arrived on my doorstep, and I certainly cried again after reading it for the second time despite knowing what was coming. She was truly an inspirational woman; it would have been an honour to know her.
doctulk
Wow, what a great, albeit very sad, story. An amazing woman and a cue to all of us to treasure each and every one of life's moments because you just don't know...
