Question about selecting professors for LOR

Recommended Posts

If these profs are going to give you a positive and strong recommendation knowing you well, then they are the ones to go to. It is not odd. And remember, the LOR is about "you" from a credible person who can attest to you having attributes that dentistry value. So, you will be fine. The LOR is not about the subject matter you are taught.

Two of my strongest reference letters came from mechanical engineering and wood science. The odd thing is I majored in biochem. As long as the prof knows you well, and likes you a lot then the LOR will be a good one. Don't settle for a prof who doesn't know you well enough to give you a LOR just b/c he/she's in a health science.
