Transcript forms directly to Mac

Recommended Posts

How many people have submitted their TRF through OMSAS? This is what I did, but I emailed Wendy and this is what she said:

See email exchange below:

Hi Wendy,

On the OMSAS website it says:

Applicants should obtain a copy of the final transcript for their records and verify its accuracy. Those applying only to McMaster University will be asked to submit final transcripts directly to McMaster, if required.

Could you elaborate on what the latter statement means?

Thank you,

XXX

Hi XXX – it means that if you are accepting your offer at McMaster you need to order your transcripts from your university to be sent directly to me (address below), rather than through OMSAS.

Take care

Wendy

When I sent in my TRF, I mailed it to the OMSAS mailing address...

Does that mean I have to send it to Wendy as well? Can anyone else clarify this because I'm not so sure of myself now.

Wow, Wendy replied within a few minutes!

I asked her whether or not a transcript needed to be sent to MAC. Note: I had mentioned to her that I had sent one to OMSAS and that I had completed 30 credits already. She replied back saying I did not need to send one to her/MAC.

I emailed her as well, except I hadn't completed 30 credits by the time of application and didn't specify that in my email. She did say that it was fine, and since she didn't mention the condition, I assume it's a non-issue. Still I wonder why this is posted on OMSAS at all...

Hmm...I'd suggest emailing her again for clarification.

On the checklist of things to complete, I remember reading that students who completed less than 30 credits need to send a TF to her. Just double check :)

Good idea panda_eyes. Thanks for the tip! Although I think with the number of emails I've sent her, she probably avoids my name like the syph. ;)

Okay, just to clarify, you guys are saying that transcripts need to be sent to only McMaster? So if no transcript is required by Mac (i.e., you have >30 credits at time of application), then we don't need to send in a transcript to OMSAS?

I emailed to ask Wendy if they wanted one from me, since it was not stated in the Offer letter. She replied back saying no. But I thought I still needed to send one in to OMSAS (which I'll have to do manually since I over-zealously accepted through SAM without ordering a transcript).

1) Send a transcript form to OMSAS mailing address

2) Send a transcript to Wendy as well IF you have completed less than 30 credits

So #1 is mandatory for everyone but #2 is conditional.

If I'm wrong, please correct me! :)

Number 1 is only mandatory if you were attending university during the application cycle.

For example, since I already had my degree conferred before the application cycle was open, I do not need to send a transcript to the OMSAS (or McMaster). :)

I checked with Wendy regarding #2. It's unnecessary to send a transcript directly to Mac if you've already sent one to OMSAS>

I did the same thing Spiderpig!

OK, so I was about to do the whole TRF thing for OMSAS (I have >30 credits so Mac didn't ask me for one) when I realized OMSAS wanted a final transcript, and mine won't be final until August (my masters research project will be showing as incomplete until then). Called OMSAS and they were useless - they told me to check with the school.

so, I emailed poor Wendy (that woman must have the patience of a saint) and this is what she said:

"Hi Jenna – we do not need a transcript from you, so don’t order one for us or OMSAS." (emphasis added by me, not Wendy)

soooo... there it is in writing folks... I must be off the hook, right??

That makes a lot of sense to me jenna-m. I mean, if Mac doesn't want our transcripts at all, what business does OMSAS have asking for one?

I know what you mean about OMSAS being useless. I had called and asked what to do, and they said to mail one in to them. That was what I was going to do. But if I can save myself $10 and the hassle, then why should I?

Actually, the irrational, paranoid part of me may take over and end up mailing one anyway. That is, if it can overcome the lazy part of me. :o

Well, I had only done one course this year, and I had got a 91%, so I really am not about to bother sending that for omsas if I dont need to. Thanks a lot for clearing that up! Im pretty much done with omsas for my entire life if at all possible.
