Biochemistry Question for those of you in UofC

Recommended Posts

Hey ive been trying to figure out what the difference is between BCHEM 393 and BCHEM 341 at the University of Calgary? Both seem to teach the same curriculum, it's just that one is not open to Bio majors. Any ideas????

Thanks for you help!

they are pretty much the same course, but 341 is meant for non science majors. the only limitation with 341, is that it will not act as a prerequisite for further bchem courses, whereas 393 will. 341 is basically good if you only need a half year of bchem. but, be careful, b/c if you're applying to schools that need a full year, 341 will basically be a waste of time.

Thanks for the info guys, but BCHEM 341 does not limit you to only one Biochemistry Course. I did some more research and turns out that you can take BCHEM 443 as long as you have one of chem 353 or 355 and one of BCHEM 341 or 393. So in the end it ultimately saves me from having to take genetics. Do you guys think I shud suck it up and just take genetics? Or go with BCHEM 341?
