Chequing Bank Account for Residents - which Bank is best?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm an incoming PGY1. As a medical student, I got to enjoy very good medical student bank accounts with RBC and TD Bank with no monthly charges and free cheques and money orders.

As residents, what features can we get, and which bank offers the most competitive day-to-day chequing account? Can we still get the monthly charge waived as in med school?

Thanks for any advice!

As a resident, you should still be eligible for the student banking accounts (i.e. no fee, free cheques, free bank drafts) with RBC. This is what I have. If you're in family medicine, I believe the CFPC has some ties with ScotiaBank, but I'm not sure offhand if that involves chequing account perks.
