Shortened Waitlist

Recommended Posts

After assessing our responses & waitlist, I have just sent additional refusal notifications. We are still keeping a shorter waitlist for now

Looks like very minimal movement from now on. Anyone receive a refusal?

Must have had crazy overacceptance, because from her twitter, there can't have been more than 10 WL acceptances.

I didn't get any emails..

oh I guess this means slightly better news, I thought she'd send a notice to those in the short waitlist also.

She said she wouldn't do this till mid June...

Class must be almost full.

Unfortunately....

makes you wonder tho, since the total waitlist number should be around the same, there must be more movements in other Ontario schools this year.

Maybe... or perhaps UT just made a very risky move in the number of initial offers they sent out (50+).

what's happening?

What do you mean?

Rejected. :(

Good luck to all those still on the waitlist. I guess its time for me to seriously start studying for my mcats on July 9th. I wasnt in the mood to study for it hardcore while on the waitlist.

Sorry to hear that... any reason you're writing it early July instead of August?

July 9th would give me the opportunity to receive my score by mid August then write it again in Sept if need be. The only thing that is really holding me back is my writing score and perhaps verbal (surprised I got 10 twice when averaging mostly 9s-10s on practice tests).

Rejected...

Sorry to hear about this, guys...:(

Take some time to do whatever it is you do to unwind, let it sink-in, and then use your year off to make yourself an even more outstanding candidate for 2011. :)

For some ideas on how to use your year off, click here! ;)

My 'gap year' from school was instrumental in making me a strong candidate for 2010, and you both can do the same for 2011!

HBP, do you have any educated guesses as to how many they might have cut? Half sized?

No idea... no way to know I guess (we don't know if the class is full, or how many people were remaining on the WL before...). Perhaps we'll have a bit more information when all the people from the other thread post their outcomes.

I wonder if the deferrals have gone through.

Glad to hear you're still on the shortened waitlist. :)

If I was you, I'd assume from hear on out that you will not be offered a spot this year, and get in 're-application mode'. Then, if you hear good news, that'll be awesome, but if not, then who cares, you've already braced yourself for that news and moved on! [easier said than done, of course!]

Good Luck, HBP! :)

Thanks nemesis. I'm trying to do just that, but it's hard with this looming over your head.

I'd bet that the shortened waitlist is a safety for UofT for when someone declines the spot unexpectedly. This could, and has happened...

Still, the way things played out this year...anything can happen.

I agree. Less than 10 spots moved... strange

In past years there has been ~15 on premed alone...

yknow what? I think there's gonna be one last "bigger" wave once all the nonrespondants that she tried to get a hold of, have passed the deadline. Assuming it was May 28th she got in contact and add 10 days on to that..
