Coming back to Canada from a European/Australian Dental School

A bachelor degree (BDent) is awarded instead of a doctorate degree (DDS) though. Does that mean that we can't use "Dr." in front of our names and patients can't call us "Dr...?" That would be weird. I don't think that I have ever seen a dentist's name at an office without "Dr." in front of it. Have you?

No difference between BDent/BDS/DDS/DMD..all are considered Dr.

 

All the dentists in Australia (majority being BDent or BDS) use Dr. in front of their name.

 

It is just like MBBS degrees for medical doctors. You don't need an MD to be called a Dr.
