KingJ
Hi there, does anyone know if you are still covered under OHIP if you are no longer in Canada and are attending medical school in the US this coming year. Health insurance is expensive..

Health insurance is expensive.. Technically you need to reside in Ontario for at least 6 month per year to be eligible for OHIP, although they have no way of verifying where you are at a particular moment... that said, you should still buy health insurance state-side if you're going to school there because OHIP does not cover you if you get sick in the US. (You will only be compensated for what the Ontario government pays for that service as far as I understand)

Health insurance is expensive.. You have to buy US health insurance if you attend. MANDATORY by school standards. OHIP won't cover you for much. Just ask people who travel to the US. Buying travel insurance is a must to go to the US. They get student group rates to make it affordable.
