sunshinesky101
Hi everyone, I just enrolled in a 8 credit thesis (30 credit/school year system) for the fall/winter term. Does anyone know how that would be considered by OMSAS for the purpose of GPA calculation? Does it get rounded down to 1.0 credits or rounded up to 1.5 credits? I am doing my undergrad at YorkU and all full year courses are 6.0 credits with the exception of the 4th year thesis in my program being worth 8 credits so I am a little confused about that. Thanks. lovestruck
That's like me too. A single course is worth 3 credits at my university and the thesis is worth 9 credits. They will just count it as if you've had that much course work. So for me, if I get an A, then it's like I got 3 A's to OMSAS as its worth 9 credits. I imagine they will do something similar for you. mattg
not necessarily, because your thesis is worth 9 credits, whereas the OP's is apparently 8 credits, which is really weird... i would contact omsas... my guess would be that it is going to be considered 1.33 credits on omsas - i can't see them rounding anything, but i could obviously be wrong... sunshinesky101
Thank you lovestruck and mattg for your responses. I contacted OMSAS and was told that the 8 credit course would be given a weight of 2. I am guessing then, its the same as a 6 credit course which is also given a weight of 2. Just thought I update this thread just in case someone else is in a similar situation.
