3rd and 4th year course selection

Recommended Posts

I think I recall reading somewhere that as a general rule, 60% of your course load should be filled up with courses that correspond to your year. So say, you take 6 or 7 fourth year courses in year four, you should be able to take 3-4 third year courses.

The 60% rule is true, but it doesn't hold perfectly for 4th year. This is because med schools realize that at some universities, it is simply impossible for a student to take 60% 4th-year-level courses (based on prereqs, course offerings, etc). Therefore, in 4th year, you need to take 60% 3rd&4th year courses combined (i.e. 60% "senior level" courses).
