gb35
Alright, here's the deal: my dad is francophone, and I attended francophone elementary and high school. I am certified bilingual I suppose, since my high school diploma is francophone. I am, however, a little out of practise since I did a 5 year undergrad in Halifax. I also grew up in Southern Ontario, near Mississauga, so my French was "anglicized" to begin with. I took a spoken french course this year to try and get back into the swing of things, and got an A+ easily enough. I'm not from a rural area, but I spent a lot of my childhood with relatives in rural areas, and love the idea of practising rural medicine. What are the chances my french status is good enough to get me a look at NOSM?
future_doc
Try. Such persons are accepted. It is a lottery. Answer the Questions carefully and completely as possible within thelimits of the characters. It seems I keep bumping into you. Perhaps too at interview time. You need to have graduated from a French speaking h.s. You have a chance. GL!
PipeDream
Here is what the website says: Anyone choosing the designation of Francophone, for the purposes of the admissions process, on the application form must be fluent in spoken and written French. In addition, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: One parent is Francophone and applicant attended at least 6 years of French school (not immersion). Applicant has a diploma from a French secondary school. Applicant can demonstrate use of French in daily activities and/or a connection to a Francophone community. As someone else with a not cut and clear case of francophone status, all I can say is try and see what happens! The worst that can happen is that they reject you, and if you were to apply as an english speaking non-rural applicant instead statistically that would be very likely to happen to you as well. Go for it!
