what does it take to get into u of s as OOP?

Recommended Posts

I tried looking around, but i wasnt sure exactly as to the calc of the 2 best years? and now u only need to meet a 26N mcat cut as an OOP? is this right or am I completely wrong?

In short, just wondering what a competitive OOP applicant would look like? gpa, mcat stats and anything else that matters. thanks in advance

As an OOP, you'll need MCAT and and prerequisite equivalents I believe. Your MCAT needs to be >26N and other forum members have said GPA >92.3% for your best 2 years.

If you hit those cutoffs, nothing else is counted and you should get an interview. After you get an interview, the interview is all that counts.

What would the break down for that mcat composite scores be? do they just look at the overall score and no individual mins are needed per section? is this percentage scale the same that was posted somewhere else labelled "the u of s dental conversion chart", in this forum where an A+ equals a 93%??

8 in each section with a total score of 26N.

The conversion scale is dependent on your school. Email Ms. Sherril Bueckert @

sherrill.bueckert@usask.ca and ask her about the conversion scale UofS uses for your school.

So granted I achieve a 26N and have a best 2 year gpa of 3.92 and 3.93 at a university in ontario that would be sufficient to get an interview? and then the interview would become the deal breaker?

hmmm...it depend on which university you attend, but unfortunately, I don't think that a 3.92 will do. 3.92 is an extremely good GPA, but I am pretty sure that it does not translate to 92.3%, which was the percentage cutoff for last year. Anyway, send an email to Ms. Bueckert and see which GPA conversion table they will use. Use the table they give you to calculate your percentage. If your percentage is less than 92%, I think you should not apply.

If you meet the MCAT and percentage cutoff, you are set for the interview.

Unfortunately, I highly doubt you'd get an interview. It varies because each school's grades are converted differently, but you'd need pretty near a 4.0 GPA for an interview.

do they consider the % of a half credit course differently than a full credit course?

I sent an email to Sherrill Bueckert of the admissions office about how international transcripts are assessed, she replied to me saying that their office will do the evaluation and that I can scan it to her by email and then she'll submit it to their office. Would you guys know whether I'd be informed of the results of the evaluation before I submit an application? I'm just unsure what happens after. I'd like to know where I stand before I decide on continuing. Anyone familiar with this?
